Swiss Ace Plate 2023: Deepour to be ridden by Jimmy Orman
The Brazilian hoop recently returned to the Gold Coast to work for Campton, however Orman will be back in the saddle on Deepour in Saturday’s Listed Swiss Ace Plate (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast as the dynamic sprinter looks to throw down a summer gauntlet.
Coming off a red hot fortnight in Dubai riding for Michael Costa, Campton says Orman has proved himself internationally.
“He (Orman) was putting on a bit of a clinic over there, which was a good experience for him riding against other blokes with different styles,” Campton said.

“It showed he’s not just a good rider in Brisbane, he’s a world-class rider, it was good he could show them that.”
Chaves reeled off four consecutive wins on Deepour earlier this year, before he returned to Sweden for family commitments, with Orman the only jockey to win on him since.
Recently back from Sweden, Campton is looking to build Chaves profile up again, but admits the timing was difficult when it came to Deepour.
“It was hard, we didn’t know when Chaves was going to be back so I made the decision to book Jimmy, we are lucky to have him, he’s the best rider in Queensland,” he said.
“He’s the number one horse for my stable and he trialled enormous I thought.
“I know he’s got this barrier (11), but they should go pretty quick, so it should suit and he loves the Sunny Coast, he’s unbeaten at the distance.
“It’s cliche but he will come on a lot from this, I have tried to keep him fresh for the 1000m and I think he will be running a big race.”
Such is Campton’s opinion of Deepour, who was narrowly beaten in the Listed Ramornie Handicap and flashed home in the Group 2 Missile Stakes behind I Am Me, he is daring to dream of the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap next winter.
“He will stay up here this prep, we want to see how he goes and then try to get him to 1400m to see if he can run the trip out for a Stradbroke if we can get him there,” he said.
“It’s a goal, we will see if he gets out to the trip.”
Deepour is a $7.50 chance with TAB on Saturday.
